“Lanik shines again”

“IN ONLY his second appearance in the ELF Renault Clio Cup, Ashurst Wood-based Niki Lanik, 19, secured another driver of the day award during last weekend’s round at Snetterton, Norfolk. Supporting the British Touring Car Championship, Lanik qualified eighth and seventh for the two rounds, being only 0.3 seconds off the best times of former champion Paul Rivett.”

“However, in extremely wet conditions, he finished the first race disappointing 11th after a minor spin.”

“On Sunday, with live TV coverage and 10,000 spectators viewing the race in sunshine, Lanik, starting seventh on the grid, had an average and lost a few places, but finished seventh.”

“He was then awarded the driver of the day for the second meeting running.”

“Lanik will have his next two races in the Renault World Series, at Donington Park, on September 9-10.”

“The 19-year-old qualified in the top 10 for both races, finishing 11th in the rain in the first race, and seventh in the second, having fought back strongly after a difficult start. The series moves to Donington Park on 9/10 September.”

Niki Lanik was over in Snetterton racing for the “Drive 4 Life – be drug-free” Racing Team. Supporting the British Touring Car Championship, Niki qualified 8th and 7th for the two rounds, being only 0.3 seconds off 2nd fastest qualifier, former champion Paul Rivett. It was a good start to the weekend.

Niki’s first race, being his first ever race in extreme rainy conditions, starting 8th he lost some places on the first lap, avoiding contact with others. As the weather worsened even much more experienced Clio racers were spinning off the track. Niki, also having a spin on lap 8 managed to recover and finish 11th.

“Lanik shines in debut race”

“ON his very first outing in a Renault Clio, 19-year-old Niki Lanik, from Ashurst Wood, debutting in the ELF Renault Clio Cup at Donington Park last week, gained a Driver of the Day award.”

“Lanik held fastest lap for most of the race and passed more cars than any other.”

“Back on track again, but in last place and with a bent rear axle causing problems under braking, as well as losing speed on the straights, Lanik battled back up to 10th place once again, being 0.319sec off the fastest lap.”
