“NINETEEN-year-old Ashurst Wood racer Niki Lanik has won the 2006 ELF Renault Clio Winter Cup.”

“Originally from Austria, he only made his Clio Cup debut, at Donington Park, in round 11 of this year’s series and produced a run of decent results, backed up by his mature performance in the Winter Cup, which he won by 24 points with four pole positions, two fastest laps, a second place and three race wins.”

“LANIK MAKES IT THREE TO TAKE WINTER TITLE”

“AUSTRIAN NIKI Lanik won the Clio Cup Winter Series at Croft last weekend, despite only making his debut in the category midway through the 2006 season.”

“Racing under the Drive Against Drugs banner, Lanik, who joined the Clio Cup at Donington Park in July, won the first two Winter Series rounds at Brands Hatch the previous weekend and clinched the title with a victory and a second place at the North Yorkshire circuit last Saturday.”

“The former 750 Motor Club Stock Hatch racer said: ‘It feels great to win the title and I have to thank the people in my team for their help. It would have been great to win all the races but I knew all I had to do was finish so it wasn’t worth risking any overtaking moves.’”

“MOTOR SPORT: ASHURST Wood-based race driver, 19-year-old Niki Lanik, put together a storming performance by setting two pole positions, one fastest lap and two race wins at Brands Hatch, in the Clio Cup Winter Championship, last week.”

“In testing, the Austrian-born race driver was already quickest around the circuit by a long way, even after a visit in the gravel at Druids and a broken bolt in the front left suspension.”

“Drive 4 Life team driver Lanik set pole position at Brands Hatch’s 1.2-mile Indy circuit by 0.614 seconds.”

“This was his first time on pole position in the cup, after only 10 races and only his second year in the world of motorsport.”

Clio Winter Cup 2006 at Croft – ROUND 3+4 – WINTER CHAMPION!!!

NIKI LANIK, semi-professional racing driver, mentioned by UK’s leading Motorsport magazines, Autosport, Motorsport News, won the 2006 ELF Renault Clio Winter Cup on Saturday 11th November. The Austrian, who races for Drive 4 Life with Stancombe Vehicle Engineering, only made his Clio Cup debut at Donington Park in round 11 of this year’s series and managed a decent run of results, backed up by his mature performance in the Winter Cup, which he won by 24 points with 4 pole positions, 2 fastest laps, a second place and 3 race wins!

Just 2 weeks ago, when the 19-year old racer entered rounds 1 & 2 at Brands Hatch, he set pole with his Drive4Life Clio 0.6s in front of 2nd place qualifier Ray MacDowall for both of the weekend’s races. Niki came away with 2 wins and a fastest lap. This was a stunning performance in front of 10,000 spectators at the famous Brands Hatch.

Clio Winter Cup 2006 at Brands Hatch – ROUND 1+2

Ashurst Wood-based race driver, 19 year old Niki Lanik, put together a storming performance by setting 2 pole positions, 1 fastest lap and 2 race wins at Brands Hatch last weekend! With 10,000 spectators and with plenty of action, the weekend turned out to be brilliant!
